We are thrilled to announce that the Kia EV9 has been crowned the ‘Car of the Year’ at the prestigious 2024 DrivingElectric Awards. Not only did the EV9 take home the top honor, but it also secured the title of ‘Best Premium Electric Car,’ marking a significant milestone for Kia in the electric vehicle market.
The DrivingElectric Awards recognize and celebrate the best new electrified cars and vans in the market. The accolades are given based on various criteria, including overall value for money, performance, and practicality. The EV9 emerged as a standout choice, praised for its ability to alter the electric landscape by offering ample space, a premium feel, all at a sub-premium price.
DrivingElectric’s panel of expert judges commended the EV9, stating, “The Kia EV9 alters the electric landscape, offering huge space and a premium feel – all at a sub-premium price. No EV offers this kind of practicality for the money.”
As anticipation builds, the first UK customer deliveries of the Kia EV9, a seven-seat electric vehicle, are set to commence in January 2024. This recognition from DrivingElectric solidifies the EV9’s position as a leader in the electric vehicle market, not only winning the overall ‘Car of the Year’ but also making a remarkable entrance into the ‘Premium’ market by securing the ‘Best Premium Electric Car’ award.
Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK, expressed his excitement about the EV9’s success, stating, “The EV9 was already one of the most anticipated cars of 2023, and our UK dealer network has received more interest in this car ahead of launch than almost any other Kia vehicle to date.”
He continued, “Our new flagship EV takes Kia into a new segment and puts us up against some very keen competition. But our established reputation as an electrification leader makes this an entirely natural – and hotly awaited – next step for the brand, and we’re delighted to see the car recognised already by DrivingElectric for what it offers customers.”
This is not Kia’s first triumph at the DrivingElectric Awards. Last year, the brand collected a quartet of awards for the EV6 GT, Sportage Plug-in Hybrid, Niro EV, and the previous generation e-Niro. The repeated success highlights Kia’s commitment to delivering exceptional electric vehicles across various segments.
The Kia EV9 stands out as one of the most versatile electric vehicles currently available, offering a choice of six- or seven-seat configurations and a rear-wheel, single motor powertrain, or an all-wheel, dual motor powertrain. With three comprehensively equipped trim levels and the assurance of Kia’s seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, the EV9 provides customers with maximum choice, solid build quality, and peace of mind.
As we eagerly anticipate the first customer deliveries in January 2024, the Kia EV9 has already proven itself as a trailblazer in the electric vehicle market, setting new standards for practicality, performance, and premium features at an accessible price point. Stay tuned for more updates on Kia’s electrifying journey as they continue to lead the way in sustainable and innovative mobility solutions.
